eclear One VERY Good Reason to Take Pearlcium
eye 40179 One VERY Good Reason to Take Pearlcium(HealthDay News) — Researchers working with mice have identified a protein that appears to prolong the lives of retinal cells in both healthy and diseased eyes.

The discovery could one day lead to treatments that would prevent blindness among people genetically predisposed to develop retinal disease, the scientists said.

The protein, known as histone deacetylase 4 (HDAC4), is naturally produced by both mice and humans and is typically involved in the regulation of bone and muscle development.

Some Key Points and quotes:

  • “When you’re in your 50′s you can’t work the same way you did when you were in your 30′s or 40′s.” – Bob Greene

  • “Anybody who struggles with a weight issue, it is about what you’re really hungry for.  It’s not about the food.  It’s about using food; abusing food. It’s about balance.  When I ask myself what am I hungry for?  I’m hungry for balance.” – Oprah Winfrey

It’s no secret that Oprah has struggled with her weight for decades. Over the years, she’s spoken candidly about bouncing from one diet to the next, emotional eating and her drug of choice—potato chips. In 1988, The Oprah Show received its highest ratings of all time when Oprah celebrated a 67-pound Weight Loss by wheeling a wagon full of fat onto the stage. Soon after, her size 10 jeans didn’t zip and the pounds began to add up again.

In 1992, Oprah met personal trainer Bob Greene. At the time, she weighed 237 pounds, the heaviest she says she’s ever been. She made a commitment to her health, began to lose weight and even ran a marathon…but the Weight Loss roller coaster continued.

When Oprah turned 50 in 2004, she seemed to have her health and weight under control. For years, she maintained her figure with diet and exercise. She says she thought she had it all figured out, but in 2007, as Oprah dealt with emotional and medical issues, the number on the scale began to creep closer to 200.

To begin living her best life, Oprah’s speaking candidly about what she calls “the brown elephant in the room”—her weight gain.

Oprah says her size really hit home in May 2008 while taping a show with two music legends, Tina Turner and Cher. “Like every woman who has a special occasion coming up, you want to look special,” she says. “I feel the same way everybody else feels when you get up in the morning and you go to put on something and it doesn’t fit.”

As the Las Vegas audience cheered, Oprah kept a smile on her face and hid her true feelings. “There I am during the Tina and Cher show feeling like, ‘How in the world did I let this happen to myself again?’” she says. “I was embarrassed, and I wanted to be anyplace other than there. Tina Turner and Cher are American icons. They still look great. So the anxiety of, ‘Okay, now I’ve got to put myself on a big stage and stand between Tina and Cher and try to make myself not be as big as I am.’”

When Oprah found out Tina wanted her to come onstage and sing along to “Proud Mary,” she says she told a producer she didn’t want to do it. “I was standing on the side, perfectly happy and thinking, ‘This is going well,’” Oprah says. Then, Tina spontaneously called her onto the stage. “I thought, ‘God, help me now.  How can I put myself between them? Can I put half of my body behind Cher’s? Well, Cher’s body is half of my body, so that’s hard. How can I hide myself here on this stage and not have to be up here?’” she says. “I felt awful. I wanted to just disappear.”

Oprah says money, fame and success don’t mean anything if you can’t control your own being. “It doesn’t mean anything if you can’t fit into your clothes,” she says. “It means the fat won. It means you didn’t win. … I am mad at myself. I am embarrassed.”

After all these years, Oprah says she can’t believe she’s still discussing this topic. “With all the other things that I know how to do and all the other things that I’m so great at and all the other accomplishments, I can’t believe I’m still talking about weight,” she says.

In January 2005, Oprah showed off her toned, 160-pound body in a tummy-baring top on the cover of O, The Oprah Magazine. At the time, she says she thought she’d conquered the battle of the bulge once and for all.

“[I was] so happy with myself,” she says. “I would even say I was probably cocky about it. … When I was in this moment, I never thought that I would be 40 pounds heavier.”

Four years later, Oprah, who now weighs 200 pounds, says the role of “cover girl” was much less appealing.

“This past year’s been really difficult because I didn’t feel like being a cover girl,” she says. “I wasn’t proud of my body and, therefore, didn’t want to show my body and didn’t really want to be seen.”

Oprah says she dreaded the moment each month when she’d have to try on clothes in front of a team of 20 people. When a pair of pants didn’t fit or a shirt was too tight, Oprah says she felt embarrassed.  The solution? Throughout 2008, Oprah says she’s worked with magazine editors to camouflage her figure. “All this year, I’ve been hiding my body because I didn’t want you to see it,” she says. “Here I am, one of the most visible people in the world, trying not to be seen on the cover of my own magazine.”

Oprah says turning 50 felt fantastic, as did 51 and 52. After celebrating her 53rd birthday, she began having health problems.

“I couldn’t sleep at night. I started to have heart palpitations and some leg swelling,” she says. “My doctor said, ‘You need to get off of salt.’ And I instinctively knew that it wasn’t salt, and so I went from that doctor to another doctor to another doctor. By the time I’d been to the fourth doctor, I was on heart medication, I was on blood pressure medication and [medication] for heart palpitations.”

Doctors didn’t recognize that Oprah had a thyroid problem…but the viewers did. “Nobody showed me the e-mails until I started talking about this, but I had e-mails from viewers saying, ‘Tell Oprah to check her thyroid because I think she has a thyroid problem,’” she says.

When she was finally diagnosed with hypothyroidism, Oprah says she fell off the Weight Loss wagon. “It was a fat sentence because I thought, ‘Well, now it doesn’t matter. I’ve got a thyroid problem. If I don’t embrace hunger, everything I eat is going to make me fat anyway, and my metabolism isn’t working, so I might as well just eat whatever I want. Okay. Fat wins,’” she says. “I felt completely defeated.”

In February 2007, Oprah says she put on the first few pounds. Then, as life took over and she began to feel overwhelmed, she turned to food for comfort. “I have known since my early years of working with Bob Greene that for me it is not a cosmetic issue. It is an emotional issue,” she says. “When my engine runs down, my drug of choice is food. My drug of choice used to be potato chips. Now, this year, it was organic multigrain blue chips…but a bag of them. So you eat a bag of those a day, and see what happens if you’re not working out.”

When Oprah gains weight, she says it means her life is out of balance. “It’s not about the food. It’s about using food—abusing food,” she says. “Too much work. Not enough play.  Not enough time to come down. Not enough time to really relax.”

Over time, she discovered what she was really hungry for. “I am hungry for balance,” she says. “I’m hungry to do something other than work.”

Oprah’s trainer and confidant Bob Greene, creator of The Best Life Diet, says every time Oprah falls off the Weight Loss wagon, it’s harder for her to get back on. “One of the problems is her own success,” he says.

“She doesn’t realize that the rules change. You know, age is a bear. You can’t go back and work the same [as] when you were 30 or 40 when you’re in your 50s.”

Oprah’s thyroid issue also made the process more difficult. “Does she use that as an excuse or did she?

Absolutely,” he says.

No matter who you are, Bob says a food addict can’t conquer his or her addiction completely. “This is a problem in your life that’s probably going to be a problem in your life for the duration of your life,” he says. “Your results are simply about how you manage that problem.”

Though he’s never discussed it with Oprah, Bob shares a theory about his friend. “She didn’t really learn how to be happy. I think she learned more survival tools and not how to be happy,” he says. “That’s where Oprah has a lot of work to do.”

Bob has confronted Oprah about other issues. One day while taking a walk through her front yard, Bob told Oprah he thought she was suffering from low-grade depression.

Oprah remembers the moment very clearly. “I said, ‘What? Me? Depressed? I can’t be depressed. I know what depression is. I’m not depressed,’” she says. “He said, ‘I don’t know. Something’s off. Your movements are slower. Your responses are slower.  There’s a dullness about you. If I were you, I’d look into what that is. I think there’s something going on.’”

When Bob looked into Oprah’s eyes, he says she wasn’t really there. “She was somewhere else. She was very vacant and distracted, and it was alarming to me,” he says. “I think I felt she was losing her zest for life, and that was one of the saddest moments.”

Though Oprah doesn’t think she was depressed, she does know she was exhausted. “I let the well run dry.  That’s what happened when I started to get unbalanced, when I started to not take time for myself, when I started to go unconscious.”

If you don’t feel fulfilled and you’re not taking of care of yourself, Bob says food becomes much more attractive. “It’s a way to comfort yourself in hard times,” he says.  As the new year gets off to a fresh start, Oprah is making the commitment to have more joy and balance in 2009. “This is the year of hopefulness,” she says. She’s also coming out of hiding. The January 2009 cover of O, The Oprah Magazine features a full-body shot of Oprah juxtaposed next to her 160-pound self from 2005.

Oprah’s says her new goal isn’t to be thin. “My goal is to be the weight that my body can hold and be healthy and strong and fit and be itself,” she says. “One of the things I had to learn to do is to embrace this body that I have and be grateful for what this body has given me. … God blessed me and this body. I mean, I could weep right now thinking about the love and appreciation I have for this body. For that, I am truly grateful.”

When times are tough, Oprah remembers a lesson she learned from author Marianne Williamson. “She was saying that your overweight self does not stand before you craving food. It’s craving love,” Oprah says. “It’s about extending yourself in so many different directions that you literally become unconscious. You’re just trying to get through it all and not giving back to yourself. When you love yourself enough, you take care of yourself.”

Oprah wants everyone who’s struggling with weight to make themselves a priority this year. “Look at falling off the wagon as I am—not as a weight issue, but a love issue,” she says. “Like all of you, I’m really good at giving love to other people and my happiness … really comes from giving to other people.  But we all need to make 2009 the year we give ourselves as much love and support as we give to others.”

The Importance of Balance in Minerals

The Importance of Balance in Minerals
It is not the intention of the information below to provide specific medical advice, but rather to provide users with information to better understand their health and their diagnosed disorders. Specific medical advice will not be provided, – please consult with a qualified physician for diagnosis and for answers to your personal health questions.

The theme of tonght’s lecture is:

“The Importance of Balance in Minerals”

If you attended my 1st lecture on “Signal Proteins”, or my 2nd on “Amino Acids“, the building blocks of proteins, or maybe my 3rd lecture on “Enzymes” protein molecules, the bio-chemicals of life, you will see how tonight’s lecture fits in with the other three…how everything is interrelated.

Tonight I will be speaking about the importance of Minerals, and in particular “the importance of Trace Minerals”..and WHY they must be in balance!

As we discuss these Minerals you will see how everything we have discovered about the Pearl is significant and related to each other and WHY Pearlcium has such a powerful effect on our health.

There are TWO kinds of Minerals: Macro-Minerals and Micro or Trace Minerals.

Macro- means large - your body needs larger amounts of these minerals…..Included in the Macro-Mineral Group is calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium, potassium, chloride, and sulfur.

TRACE of something means that there is only a little of it, so, even though your body needs trace minerals, it needs just a tiny bit of each one.Essential trace Minerals includes iron, manganese, copper, iodine, zinc, cobalt, fluoride, silica, selenium and boron…there are more than 30 trace minerals in Pearlcium.

ESSENTIAL MINERALS means just that, without these minerals we wouldn’t be here… And they must be obtained from the food we eat or from supplements we take.

Minerals are necessary for normal metabolism, they add mechanical strength to bones, they are a component of enzymes and hormones, they function as buffers, and they regulate the balance and motion of fluids in and out of cells.

Pearlcium is a complete mineral complex, with both Macro Minerals and Micro or Trace Minerals in proper amounts and ratio for ultimate absorption.

TRACE MINERALS can have a powerful affect on health. They are necessary for oxygen transport, energy metabolism, growth, and cell and nerve protection. They are essential in the assimilation and utilization of vitamins and other nutrients. They aid in the digestion process and provide the catalyst to speed up the reactions for many hormones, enzymes, and essential body functions and reactions. They aid in replacing electrolytes lost through heavy perspiration or diarrhea. They also protect against toxic reaction and heavy metal poisoning.

The “KEY” in minerals is balance - Balance is important to all areas of our lives and nutrition, but it is particularly crucial when it comes to minerals and trace minerals.

It becomes increasingly evident when studying the relationship of minerals to human health, that keeping the level of minerals in balance in every tissue, fluid cell and organ in the human body is the key to maintaining human health.

Keeping minerals in proper balance throughout the body while providing all of them in sufficient quantities needed for optimal health is complex.

Based on the latest research, mineral balance is further complicated when using a bullet approach that finds specific deficiencies and then supplements the diet with just that particular nutrient…a case in point will be my coverage of the Trace Mineral Iodine.

Imbalanced interactions cause many problems when we consistently consume single processed or refined minerals that are out of proportion with the other minerals and trace minerals.

Whenever the consumption of a single nutrient is significantly altered, an entirely new dietary pattern is created.. Nutrients occur in clusters in the diet and may therefore act synergistically to alter physiologic (or normal functioning) of variables, such as blood pressure.

These relationships can, however have an equally profound benefit on human health when minerals are consumed in proper ratios. Certain minerals and trace minerals, when found in proper balance, can serve additional non-classical roles such as acting as antioxidants. Minerals and trace minerals can also help each other in the process of assimilation and add additional safety buffers for minerals that have the potential of being toxic to human health.

That’s why Pearlcium, as a whole food product, with minerals in proper balance as to amounts, and proper ratio to each other, may be essential for good health.

I think it needs to be re-iterated, that research has found by taking a single mineral supplement the body’s mineral content is altered causing an imbalance.

Minerals, when in balance, act as catalysts for many biological reactions within the body, including, muscle response, the transmission of messages through the nervous system — to make hormones or maintain a normal heartbeat (perhaps that could that be the reason why some, after a few days on Pearlcium, are experiencing a normal heart rhythm) …AND… balanced minerals increase utilization of nutrients in our food.

All tissue and internal fluids contain varying quantities of minerals. Minerals are constituents of the bones, teeth, soft tissue, muscle, blood, and nerve cells. They are vital to overall mental and physical well-being.

When we provide our body the quantity and proper ratio of minerals it needs, it knows what to do with them. When we cause an imbalance the body has to start compensating:

As an example:

When we take Calcium, it’s absorbed in the small intestine and passes from there into the bloodstream and ultimately into the bones. There are optimal ratios of phosphorus to the amount of calcium consumed, that permit calcium to be more completely utilized. Hormonal secretions of the parathyroid and thyroid glands, also help maintain calcium equilibrium in the blood.

These regulatory mechanisms help to prevent a deficiency in calcium from developing in the bloodstream. When such a deficiency does develop, parathyroid hormone acts to transfer calcium from the bones in order to maintain the mineral’s all-important presence in the bloodstream. This of course strips your bones of their calcium and in turn weakens your bones, making them more brittle and subject to breaking.

So, we can certainly see WHY we need minerals in balance.

One of the trace minerals, IODINE, is important in the development and functioning of the thyroid gland. The thyroid gland captures dietary iodine, synthesizes thyroid hormone from it, and stores thyroid hormone until it is needed. Thyroxine, a thyroid hormone responsible for the body’s basal metabolic rate, is 65 % iodine. Iodine is also involved through thyroxine and other thyroid hormones with normal growth and development, protein synthesis, and energy metabolism.

But Reporting in the June 29, 2006 issue of The New England Journal of Medicine researchers concluded that “more than adequate or excessive iodine intake may lead to hypothyroidism and autoimmune thyroiditis.”

In large quantities, iodine can reduce the release of thyroid hormones from the thyroid gland. If the hormones are not released, their effects won’t be seen.

Now who would have thought, that taking “more than adequate” or “excessive” amounts of Iodine could cause:hypothyroidism –or thyroiditis - which is associated with an underactive thyroid, since the Thyroid is over 1/3 iodine.

But in the case of thyroiditis, hypothyroidism is caused by destruction of the thyroid gland by an inflammatory process. When thyroid cells are attacked by the inflammation, these cells die. Without thyroid cells, the thyroid is no longer able to produce enough thyroid hormone to maintain the body’s normal metabolism and results in Hypothyroidism, or an underactive thyroid gland.

According to animal studies, high iodine intake can initiate and worsen infiltration of the thyroid by lymphocytes. Lymphocytes are white blood cells that accumulate due to chronic injury or irritation. In addition, large amounts of iodine block the thyroid’s ability to make hormone.

Another trace mineral COPPER aids in the formation of

bone, hemoglobin, and red blood cells; promotes connective tissue formation and central nervous system function; works with Vitamin C and zinc to form elastin, a chief component in skin tissue and muscle fibers; is involved in the healing process, energy production, hair and skin coloring, and taste sensitivity; is important for the formation of collagen, one of the fundamental proteins making up bone, skin and connective tissue.

A deficiency of copper may result in general weakness, impaired respiration and skin sores.

Because of proper amounts of copper and it’s ratio to other minerals in Pearlcium, could be one of the reasons why so many with sores, rashes, and other skin problems find relief when they take it, and use it topically — Which brings our attention once again to the importance of balance when it comes to minerals and trace minerals.

Boron, as the new kid on the block, is an importance trace mineral which is only beginning to be understood. In fact, little was known about the relationship between boron and health until the 1980’s.

BORON is a trace mineral needed by the body in only minuscule amounts; Researchers say it assists in the proper absorption of calcium, magnesium, and vitamin D, especially in older people; it maintains healthy bones and prevents osteoporosis; slows the loss of minerals through urination; plays an important role in joint health and has helped those with rheumatoid arthritis; also, helps to raise estrogen levels, which could prevent bone loss; and is needed for proper muscle growth; to enhance brain function and promote mental alertness; they also say it plays a key role in how the body utilizes energy from fats and sugars.

I could talk all night about the abundant health benefits of Minerals and the Importance of Trace Minerals, but considering the time, lets see what we have learned so far.

    (1) We’ve learned that Minerals are essential to health, AND LIFE!

    (2) They must be ingested.
    (3) That too much of a good thing can produce bad results
    (4) Minerals must be synergistically balanced, because whenever a single nutrient is consumed it’s significantly altered, and an entirely new dietary pattern is created by the body…and who knows the ramifications of that.

Synergy means working together and is the term used to describe a situation where the final outcome of a system is greater than the sum of its parts.

The bottom line is by taking balanced minerals your body has synergy! ………….and Synergy is synonymous with Pearlcium!!

Bone Drugs More Damaging Than Thought

Saturday, January 03, 2009

Byron Richards, CCN
A new dental study shows that up to 4% of those taking the dangerous bone drugs can have their teeth loosen and jaw bones rot – a rate of drug induced injury far higher than previously reported.  This affects hundreds of thousands of Americans.
Bone drugs actually cause chaos to the healthy structure of bone.  The use of these drugs for the prevention of osteoporosis is a crime and those behind it should go to jail.

Bone Drugs and Jaw Decay – A New Warning

Byron Richards, CCN  PRINT RSS SHARE
One day it will dawn on American seniors that they are the unwitting subjects of suspect human experimentation for the scam profits of Big Pharma.  Those hoodwinked into taking statins have increased risk for heart problems, brain/nerve problems, muscle problems, and increased cancer risk.
Those conned into taking bone-damaging bone drugs face the reality that their jaw bone may rot, teeth will loosen, gums will stay inflamed, pain will not go away, and their will be ongoing drainage from the deteriorated jaw bone.   This is the  new warning issued to 50 million elderly last week at the yearly meeting of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Foundation (AAO-HNSF) Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL.
I have previously explained this subject in great detail in my article, The Delusion of Bone Drugs.  As always, I am right about the extreme dangers of these drugs.

FDA Sides with Big Pharma on Bone Drugs

Sunday, November 16, 2008

Byron Richards, CCN
FDA management is doing everything in its power to keep the Big Pharma bubble from bursting.  Actually, the Big Pharma bubble is more like a balloon that is gradually deflating.  Massive layoffs, reduced ad spending, and huge liability from injury suits are occurring as the public is beginning to see that the Big Pharma racket is needlessly killing and injuring hundreds of thousands of Americans every year.
A case in point is that of the bone drugs, one of the great scams of all time.  The longer any woman takes these drugs the worse her bones get – as all that is left is old bone that will become more brittle over time.  Pictures look better on the bone scans because the bones are actually swollen, something the two-dimensional pictures hide quite nicely.  These drugs stay in bone forever, a structural problem in and of itself.  And then the finding that serious atrial fibrillation results from taking these drugs, another hot potato landing on the crisis-driven management team at the FDA back in October of 2007.
The FDA said they would review the data and get back in touch with the world in a year.  Meanwhile, alarming reports continued to be published.  The  most recent study released last month “showed that 2.5 to 3 percent of patients taking bisphosphonates experienced atrial fibrillation and 1 to 2 percent experienced serious AF, including hospitalization or death. Patients taking bisphosphonates were more likely to experience AF than patients receiving placebo and up to two times more likely to experience serious AF than patients receiving placebo.” Based on the estimated number of American women taking this type of bone drug it means that, conservatively estimating, 100,000 to 200,000 women are seriously injured or killed by bisphosphonate-caused atrial fibrillation every year.
You should also understand that the FDA is looking at the exact same data as this published research.  On November 12, 2008 it proclaimed that the atrial fibrillation issue was of no serious concern, although it might consider a study in the future.  The FDA told doctors to keep handing out these drugs like candy.
The FDA reached this conclusion by intentionally diluting the data until the risk disappeared.  They gladly accepted Big Pharma’s version of data, which watered down the meaning of other very clear data.  This is a statistical ploy.  But why is the FDA doing this?
They are doing it to prevent a crash in public confidence of Western Medicine, especially in the preventive health arena (where they don’t belong at all).  They are doing it to prop up the sales of drug companies.  They are doing it to save face because they have let these horrid bone drugs run wild for 15 years.  I would have loved to hear the arguments between the safety scientists at the FDA who obviously understand the risks, and FDA management who controls what will be done and issues the proclamation of false safety.
Congress should be all over this with a major investigation.  This type of FDA behavior is not tolerable.  Of course, with a new administration there will be plenty of FDA management heading out the door to assume their 6 figure salaries in the Big Pharma companies they have helped, to be replaced by the next batch of administrators on the take.
